GUSD Superintendent Released

Glendale, CA –  On January 29, the Glendale Unified School District Board of Education at their Special Board Meeting released (by a vote of 3-2) Superintendent Dr. Winfred B. Roberson, Jr. from his existing contract without cause, effective immediately, pursuant to contract paragraph 11(c), GUSD Board of Education released a statement on January 30th.

According to the source, Dr. Kelly King will take on the role of Interim Superintendent while the Board of Education searches for a permanent Superintendent. Dr. King has spent her 28-year career with GUSD, beginning as a teacher in 1990 and most recently serving as Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.

“Our team will assist with a smooth transition and keep the district focused on the important work of educating our students. The Board of Education has a plan to move the district forward with new leadership. We will discuss the search process for a new Superintendent at our upcoming meeting on February 5. Once finalized, we will share the search process details with all GUSD stakeholders.
