ANCA GLENDALE GRANTS SCHOLARSHIPS TO TWO LOCAL STUDENTS

On Tuesday, June 4th the Armenian National Committee of America – Glendale (ANCA Glendale) awarded two local high school students the ANCA Glendale “Tsolag Hovsepian” Upstander Scholarship. Founded in partnership with the Glendale Unified School District, with this scholarship ANCA Glendale aims to recognize outstanding students who have demonstrated a strong sense of social responsibility, commitment to justice, and taken the initiative to stand up for an individual or group of people who are being disadvantaged. Herbert Hoover High School senior Amira Chowdhury who is a founding member of Peerlift, a student run non-profit organization working to increase access to college related opportunities for low income students was one of the two students awarded the five hundred dollar scholarship. ANCA GLENDALE HOSTS RECRUITMENT EVENT WITH GLENDALE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS

Glendale CA – On Saturday March 31st, 2018 dozens of high school and college students gathered at the Glendale Youth Center for a recruitment and information session with the Glendale Fire and Police Departments. Glendale Unified School District Board of Education member Mr. Shant Sahakian, GPD Interim Chief of Police Carl Povilaitis and Victoria Dochoghlian representing the office of Assemblymember Laura Friedman were also in attendance. ANCA Glendale Supports Renaming a Downtown Street to Artsakh Street

Glendale, CA – On Tuesday, March 13, 2018 the Glendale City Council unanimously voted to initiate the process of renaming a public right of way in honor of the Republic of Artsakh.
